Prayer

Pray First

We have come to depend on so many things in life; family or friends,

sunshine and rain, transport or medication, wifi and electricity. All of these things help us, fuel us, or support us, in some practical way.

God’s people have been given many gifts but we have the unique privilege of calling on God, as ‘Our Father in heaven’. The early church prioritised four things; hearing God’s Word preached, spending time with fellow Christians, sharing in the joy of communion and baptism, and prayer.

As a church we want to make prayer one of our priorities. Prayer is an expression of our dependence upon God for everything. Come September we plan to hold a monthly congregational prayer gathering at which we will have an opportunity to gather together and pray with, and for, one another. Each month will have a simple structure that will lead us to look up to God in praise, journey with others as we support them in prayerful concern, and look around our community /world as we consider the needs of others. No one will be forced to pray out loud and the format will involve prayer in small and larger groups. During the year there will also be an opportunity for children / families to join the prayer gathering with an early evening start.

Please plan to come and get these dates into your diary as a priority for 2025-26; Wednesday 3 September, 1 October, 5 November, 3 December (early evening for children), 7 January (as part of a week of prayer), 4 February, 4 March, 1 April (early evening for children), 6 May, 3 June.
